The Northampton Board of Health has inspected the premises at
29 Highland Avenue, Northampton, MA (assessor's map 25C parcel 191 .),
for compliance with Chapter II of the State Sanitary Code.
This letter will certify that the inspections revealed violations listed below,
which are serious enough as to endanger or materially impair the
health, safety, and well-being of the occupants
Under authority of Chapter III, Section 127 of the Massachusetts General
Laws, and Chapter II of the State Sanitary Code, you are hereby ordered to
make a good faith effort to correct the following violations
within FOURTEEN DAYS of the receipt of this order.

Re: Correction of Housing Code Violations at 29 Highland Avenue,Northampton,MA
Per your request on February 10, 1999. I am writing this letter to Gear up any misunderstandings regarding
the above mentioned violations.
On January 26, 1999,you came into the Board of Office to inform me that the violations noted in the Board of
Health Abatement Order dated January 4, 1999(Certified Mail#P 573 708 214) had been corrected. When I
questioned you about the garage wiring you informed me that this electricity was indeed on a separate meter. In
addition,after consulting with the Northampton Building Department,the lack of a second means of egress from
the 3"floor was not in violation of current building code requirements for your existing dwelling I also told you
that a re-inspection would not be required as long as tenant(s)were satisfied.
Last week I received a call from one of the occupants, Mr. Dan Bodah, who had a question regarding the
garage wiring. When he informed me that the garage was not locked at this time, I asked him to turn on some
electrical fixtures in the garage and then shut off the main power switch to his meter. This would establish
whether the garage power is indeed on his meter. This he agreed to do and would let know the results. In a
later phone conversation with him it was established that the garage electical power remained on after he had
cut off all power to his dwelling unit. This indicated that the garage electrical circuit was indeed on a separate
meter and,therefore,not a code violation.
Although I am mailing the tenant(s)a copy of this letter, I am also providing you with an additional copy which
I want you to provide to the tenant(s)or their representative should your court case be heard of decided today.
