STRUCTURAL STEEL INSPECTION
During today's site visit the sub contractor began welding the first level of brace framing for the
HRSG.
Allied inspector noted that the welding detail on S-12 shows only a 5/16 fillet weld vertically,
both sides, full length which is typical on all new T-Seats welded to new columns. These were
completed and acceptable. Also welded are the overheads, full length. Two were not acceptable
as a 5/16 fillet. These were repaired and acceptable as a 5/16 fillet weld.
Also inspected and accepted were the typical new beam clips to existing columns 1/4 inch fillets
full vertical with a 1/2 inch top return.
The welders continued working on bottom gusset plates to existing columns which were not
completed by end of day.
Further inspection to follow.
