Thornes Marketplace is an existing building and is listed as Use Groups B &A3 per
780 CMR 8th Edition and 2009 I.B.C.
The building has 3 levels above grade,a basement and a sub-basement.
The building is equipped with sprinklers and an existing automatic fire detection
system.
The third floor office space is undergoing minor renovation.
Existing fire alarm horn/strobes and one pull station will be left in place. One (1)
additional horn/strobe and two (2) smoke detectors will be added.
Devices shall be U.L. Listed for their intended use.

Inspector Nichols,
Fire Service Group is submitting a permit for the following scope of fire sprinkler work to be conducted at Thornes
Market 150 Main Street,Northampton.The following required fire sprinkler modifications to be done are result of 41
floor renovation:.
1)Relocate sprinkler branch line around the new skylight.
2)Relocate 7 sprinkler heads to maintain proper sprinkler coverage.
Notes:
Building is constructed of brick and wood.The fire sprinkler protection is feed with a 4"riser using standard
response coverage heads.The above proposed work is to stay within the perimeters of the original system design.
All work will be performed by licensed fire sprinkler fitters following the guide lines of NFPA 1.3 and 25 to
assure proper coverage is maintained without effecting the original system design. All materials used are to be
listed for fire protection.
No engineering or drawings required for this scope of work.
It is the building owner's responsibility to maintain the fire sprinkler system under the guidelines of NFPA 25.
Required routine inspection services are not part of the scope of this project.
