Dear Mr. and Ms. Langston,
I have reviewed your zoning permit application for additions to the house at 685 Bridge Road in
Northampton. As presented, you would need a variance from the Zoning Board of Appeals because a
portion of the addition extends into the required 15' side setback. Since the existing house conforms to
the setback requirements, you cannot create a non-conformity. The ZBA could not grant a variance in
this situation.
If you establish the eastern property line, either by survey or by line-of-sight between property
pins, and present a plan that places the addition within the required 15' setback I would approve the
application.
