DATE: 22 May 1978, 1-4 P.M. Weather - Sunny, no rain for
previous 5 days.
PERFORMED BY: Stephen Demski, Curran Associates, Inc . Massa-
chusetts Registered Professional Engineer No. 28580
WITNESSED BY: Robert Langdon, Inspector of Plumbing & Gas
Fittings, Northampton, MA.
SOIL LOGS : Two sets of 10-foot deep observation holes and 2-
foot deep percolation test holes were dug 35 feet apart.
The soil profiles in both deep observation holes are similar.
The soils are a mixture of fine and coarse sands with several
thin (less than 6 inches wide) lenses of coarse sands. The
topsoil and subsoil were excavated from the site several years
ago. No groundwater was observed while the holes were open.
RESULTS : The percolation test hole was saturated from 2 :15
to 2: 40 P.M. using 20 gallons of water to maintain a 12-inch
water depth. Two percolation tests were performed in the same
hole. (After noting the similarity in the soil profiles of the
two deep holes, Mr. Langdon suggested that a percolation test
be performed in one location only. )

was 2 minutes or less per inch. The soil in the area of the test
pit is suitable for subsurface sewage disposal in accordance with
