Conditions imposed with this Finding are as follows:
1. Prior to obtaining a Building Permit, the applicant shall
submit a professional opinion that the decibel level of
noise from the new indoor shooting range shall be less than
the decibel level of the old structure, based upon the
design and/or architecture of the new facility. . A copy of
the professional opinion shall also be submitted to the

At a meeting conducted on January 4 , 1995, the Northampton Zoning
Board of Appeals unanimously voted 3 : 0 to GRANT the request of
the NORTHAMPTON REVOLVER CLUB, INC. for FINDING under the
provisions of Section 9 .3 (1) (D) in the Northampton Zoning
Ordinance, to allow for the removal of an existing firing range
facility and construction of a new 40' X 85' indoor shooting
range at 519 Ryan Road.
Zoning Board Members present and voting were Vice Chair M.
Sanford Weil, Jr. , Member Alex Ghiselin and Associate Member
William R. Brandt.
The Findings of the Board under Section 9 .3 (1) (D) for an
expansion of a Pre-existing Non-conforming use were as follows:
1. The Board found that the expansion will not be substantially
more detrimental than the existing nonconforming use to the
neighborhood, and that the new structure will significantly
diminish the noise level in the neighborhood because:
a. The indoor shooting range will be at ground level which
will reduce the level of noise because the ground
serves as a conductor and sound travels farther below
the ground than above.
b. The new structure will be constructed of insulated
materials such as insulated block and acoustical tiles
which help reduce noise, thus making the new structure
less detrimental to the neighborhood.
