Dear Bill:
This letter is a follow-up to my letter of February 22, 1988 to you regarding
an extension to commence work under the zoning variance issued by the ZBA to the Hotel
to complete the sixth floor addition.
I understand that you had some concern that there have been material changes
in the plans for the construction of the sixth floor. I have consulted with the
architects, and they indicate to me that the only change in the plan has been the
downsizing of the pool. The pool initially was intended to be approximately three to
four feet deep and was intended for recreational purposes. The pool has now been
downsized both in depth and length to the equivalent of a reflecting pool with a
fountain, which will not accommodate or be used for recreation purposes.
Since this change amounts to a reduction in the scope of the work which was
presented to the Zoning Board, I would not think it would require us going back to the
Zoning Board for approval.
This pool serves the purpose of adding a needed amenity to the sixth floor, and
that's the basis upon which the Zoning Board made its decision initially. Also, I
don't think that this is a substantial change and therefore again would request that
you grant an extension for six months for us to commence work at that location.
If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Your cooperation is appreciated.
