Incident Report
Fire 350 Acrebrook Drive
Date of Incident: 4/1/1996 at approx. 2 AM
Owner Name : Homer and Joan Darado
At 2: 16AM NFD called me to scene of house fire. I arrived on scene
at approx. 2 : 30AM fire was extinguished when I arrived. Fire had
occured in basement of single family dwelling where there was a
bedroom. The cause of fire was believed to be from a nail driven
thru a electrical line in basement bdrm. Bedroom was not a legal
bedroom it did not have the proper egress and the work was done
without permits (f i les checked in off ice) . Heavy damage was done to
room in basement to furniture and a large collection of baseball
cards, slight damage to floor joists (light charring) . Do to damage
to electric service in basement and due to the fact that family had
been having problems with outlets failing, I ordered the family not
to stay in house overnight. NFD called Red Cross to put family up
for evening.
The panel board that was in basement was Federal Pacific #378336
rated at 200 AMP. When Red Cross arrived I shut main breaker off on
panel, lights remained on in basement until I shut off all
individual breakers.
I met with Mike Driscoll (NFD) and George Fournier (wiring
inspector) at the scene at 9: 45AM. GF stated that panel would have
to be replaced and wiring effected by fire replaced, hard wired
smoke detectors in basement and 1st floor also will be required.
Utilities in house were all electric.
