Marissa Labozzetta opened the meeting at 5:05 PM. There was no public comment.
Bonnie Parsons and the Board discussed the status of the upgrades to the Elm Street design
standards and the change in district boundaries. Ms. Parsons explained the status of the work to
date, and presented options for expanding the district, with a list of abutting properties and what
kind of building they have.
The Commission set their next meeting for further discussion with Bonnie Parsons for
September 1, 2009.
The Commission tentatively set November 17, 2009 for a public hearing on the proposed
changes to the district boundaries.
Wayne Feiden discussed staffing changes with the Commission and the challenges of the Office
of Planning and Development loosing staff time. He suggested one option is that the
Commission remain an independent commission until the completion of the district
expansion/standard revision project and them merge with the Historical Commission. Historic
District Commission members expressed an understanding of staff shortages and did not raise
any objections to this approach.
The Commission discussed options for adding two entering Elm Street Historic District signs on
Elm Street. OPD is willing to help identify funding for the project once a design has been
completed.
At 6:05 PM the Commission decided, by consensus, to adjourn.
