'Provisions for fuel storage must be located at least 36 in. (914 mm) from any side of the appliance.
"Adequate clearance for cleaning and maintenance must be provided.
For clearances from air ducts, see NFPA 90B,Standard for the Installation of Warm Air Heating and Air-Conditioning Systems.
`Clearance to combustible material or metal cabinets. If the underside of such combustible material or metal cabinet is protected with sheet metal
of not less than 24 gauge[0.024 in. (0.61 mm)],spaced out 1 in. (25 mm),the distance is permitted to be reduced to not less than 24 in. (610 mm).

Notes:
(1)All clearances and thicknesses are minimums;larger clearances and thicknesses are permitted.
(2) To calculate the minimum allowable clearance, the following formula can be used: C1,,= C,,„ x [1 – (R/100)], where Ci,,.is the minimum
allowable clearance,C„„is the required clearance with no protection, and R is the maximum allowable reduction in clearance.
(3)Refer to Figure 13.6.2.1(e) and Figure 13.6.2.1(f)for other reduced clearances using materials found in this table.

Re: Clearance reduction on wood insert.
Three areas on install that do not meet minimum clearance to combustibles.
Copy of page 32 from install manual.
(B) Fuel door to mantel, required 29". Measured at 25-1/2".
(C) Fuel door to top trim, required 22". Measured at 13"
(E) Hearth Extension, required 16", Measured at 13-1/2"
Solution: Install a metal heat shield on top of insert surround. Heat shield will
extend at a 45 deg angle outward. Extending 8" out from brick.
To calculate minimum allowable clearance. Table 13.6.2.1, NFPA 211. Note 2.
Cpr = Cun x [ 1-(R/100)].
Cpr: minimum allowable clearance
Cun: required clearance without protection.
R: Maximum reduction in clearance: 50%
(B) 29[1-(50/100) = 14.5", measured at 25-1/2"
(C) 22[1-(50/100) = 11", measured at 13"
(E) remove wood flooring 4" +. Install non-combustible material.
All other clearances are beyond minimum requirements.
