sheet 1 NTH.380 ___ Recommended for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. If checked, you must attach a completed National Register Criteria Statement form. Use as much
space as necessary to complete the following entries, allowing text to flow onto additional continuation sheets. ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION: Describe architectural features. Evaluate
the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. This fine example of the Queen Anne style has been carefully restored since it was inventoried
in 1980. It is two-and-a-half stories under a front-gable roof, its volume made picturesque and complex by a three-story corner tower under a polygonal roof at the southeast corner,
by a three-story, cross-gable bays at the southwest corner and on the north, and by a two-story ell on the west. A wraparound porch crosses the east façade and continues on the south
elevation until it abuts the three-story bay window. It then picks up again across the south elevation of the ell. It is a stacked porch on the east with a second story portion, one
bay wide above the paired main entries to the house. There is a pediment above the stairs on the first story and the second story of the porch is front-gabled. The porches have turned
posts, a Chippendale pattern railing, and a fine turned frieze. The exterior siding of the house is made to be picturesque with clapboards on the main walls and shaped shingles in the
gable ends. Windows in the house have 1/1 replacement sash. Suggestive that this house was originally two-family is the pair of Queen Anne, multi-paneled doors that sit side-by-side
on the east façade. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local (or state) history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the
owners/occupants played within the community. From Form B of 1980: “This large Queen Anne styled residence was built for Aubrey Munyan, an engineer with the Boston and Maine Railroad.
In 1892, Mr. Munyan bought this lot from Edward Strong. Mr. Strong was a farmer and owned a large homestead west of here on North Street. During the late 1880’s, he began selling lots
along the northern side of the street for residential development. By 1895, five houses had been constructed, including this one.” BIBLIOGRAPHY and/or REFERENCES Beers, F. W. County
