MA – 5025 CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE PLAN ~ NARRATIVE The following section provides construction details and highlights the general construction sequence and timing of earthmoving activities.
Specific construction phases correspond to spreadsheet schedule of activities. Minor Clearing & Trimming Clearing will be minimal and minor clearing of woody trees and shrubs will be
conducted by hand. Prior to the commencement of clearing activities, the limits of clearing will be identified in accordance with the construction drawings and trees proposed to be saved
will be flagged. All construction activities and ground disturbance will be confined to the workspace as depicted on the construction drawings. Vegetation will be disposed by stockpiling
along the edge of the workspace; chipped and spread across the property in upland areas and trees will be removed and disposed off-site by others. Erosion Control Installation Erosion
and sedimentation controls (i.e., staked silt fence/hay bales) will be installed at the downstream limits of the work as identified on the general construction plan to ensure site stability,
safety and environmental protection. On up gradient areas, orange protective snow fence will be used as required to delineate the limit of work. Earth moving activities will be conducted
only after erosion controls are installed and inspected. Dewatering Pit In circumstances of excess water, during foundation placement or other stages of construction, a dewatering pit
may be needed. If this occurs, a dewatering pit will be constructed in accordance with the plans to treat the excess water and encourage infiltration into the ground. Minor Grading and
Excavation During this phase of construction, minor grading/excavation will take place to prepare the existing road. If suitable topsoil is found, it will be removed and stockpiled in
an upland area. The stockpiled topsoil will be protected with silt fencing or temporarily seeded until ready for use on an as needed basis. Road Construction Grading of existing road
and placement of a layer of gravel borrow overlain by a second layer of dense gravel. Temporary check dams will be placed as needed during construction of roads and ditches. Site Stabilization/Landsc
aping The final phase of the construction is the restoration and stabilization of all exposed surfaces and landscaping per construction drawings and details. Mulch and rip rap is intended
to stabilize the soil surface and shall consist of hay, straw, erosion control fabric. Side slopes/road aprons will be loamed, rip rapped and seeded per construction drawings and details,
and other exposed areas will be loamed and seeded or landscaped where applicable. In the event that weather conditions prevent final restoration with vegetation, temporary erosion and
sedimentation measures will be employed until the weather is suitable for final cleanup. A final inspection will ensure that the project site is cleared of all project debris and that
vegetation is well established and/or erosion and sedimentation controls are functioning properly. Erosion controls will not be removed until the site is stabilized and the final inspection
is complete.
