Proposed Demolition and Construction:
285 Prospect St., Northampton
Greenwald Job •
We propose to do the following:
1. Demolition: remove all structures on site down to footings. The structural
engineer, Ryan Helwig has approved the use of the footings for our proposed use.
We did some test holes at numerous sites around the foundation and the footings
passed inspection. This is conditional on there being no damage during demolition
to the footings. We are not certain that the footings on the old restaurant building
will meet approval, and will have to be inspected once the ground is opened the
footings inspected.
2. Construction: build one home on the footprint of the existing structure. This will
be a two -story home in the old factory and the connector and a one and a half
story in the old restaurant to make an all in one building. There will be a basement
space under the old restaurant and a slab on grade in the other section that was the
"ice cream factory" and a crawl space under the connector. At this time we
believe that the exterior will be of colonial design, with clapboards for siding.
Please refer to the enclosed drawings for further clarification. These are only for early
preliminary approval, so that we made proceed to the next phase of design by an
architect, after review by the homeowner.
