July 23, 2009 22B -043 Dear Property Owners, The property at 296 Nonotuck Street includes existing buildings subject to construction control pursuant to the Massachusetts State Building Code, 780 CMR 116.0. 780 CMR 110.9 requires that building permit applications be accompanied by a building survey in accordance with 780 CMR 34.00. The building survey submitted in October 2008 was limited to permits issued under the 6 edition of the building code. We will require that a new survey accompany any new building permit applications for renovations and changes of use. We may issue permits without a building survey for siding, roofing or other work to ensure that the buildings are weather tight. Feel free to call if you have any questions. The structural review was conducted on December 12, 2008 and includes additional reinforcing of the elevator shaft where separation between the building and elevator shaft has occurred. Steiger Engineering concludes that the column knee bracing at this location is structurally sound. Structural details for strapping the elevator shaft to the building at the first, second, third and roof elevations have been developed and are in the process of being installed. Steiger Engineering shall review this work upon the completion of the work. If you have further questions regarding these matters, please feel free to contact me directly. Sincerely, CAF , P H I I '?
