The files on this CD were created on 32 bit, PC (IBM) Compatible computer running Microsoft Windows XP. This CD is in 700-megabyte CD-R format. This CD contains 3 files for this project named: Galusha2006-CD_Read_Me_First.txt (The file you are reading now.) Galusha2006-VisualizationInMunicipalPlanning.pdf Galusha2006-VisualizationInMunicipalPlanning-Movie.avi There is also a folder named Programs, which contains publicly available, Open Source, Free Software for viewing the pdf and avi files if necessary. While the files for this project were created using Windows XP, and the applications mentioned below are used on Windows operating systems, the same, or equivalent applications are also readily available for computers with Linux, Unix, and Mac operating systems at the time of this project. The txt file ‘Galusha2006-CD_Read_Me_First.txt’ (The file you are reading now.) contains basic information about the other files and how to access them. All versions of the Windows operating systems contain the program Notepad to read txt files. The pdf file ‘Galusha2006-VisualizationInMunicipalPlanning.pdf’ contains the full text and images of this Masters Project. This file was created to be compatible with Adobe Acrobat 5.0 compatible and later pdf readers, such as Ghostview. Acrobat is freely available for download and provided with most new computers at the time of this project. However, Ghostscript with Ghostview have been provided on this CD to read the pdf file if the users computer does not have a pdf reader. These two programs must be installed together by double clicking on gs854w32.exe and gsv48w32.exe in the Ghostscript folder in Programs, then following the displayed instructions. After they have both been installed, use Ghostview from Programs in the Start menu to access the pdf file. Both of these applications are publicly available freeware licensed under the General Public License (GPL). For more information, please read the accompanying ‘gpl.txt’ file in the Ghostscript folder. Ghostscript and Ghostview were obtained from: http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/. The avi movie file ‘Galusha2006-VisualizationInMunicipalPlanning-Movie.avi‘ contains a flythrough of the virtual reality model created during this project, lasting 2 minutes and 23 seconds. This file should be viewable with any software that can play avi movie files. It has been tested to be compatible with Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.0, Apple Quick Time 6.5, and Media Player Classic, provided on this CD to view the avi movie file. This program can be run directly from the CD, by double clicking on mplayerc.exe in the MediaPlayerClassic folder found in the Programs folder. This program is publicly available freeware licensed under the General Public License (GPL). For more information, please read the accompanying ‘gpl.txt’ file in the MediaPlayerClassic folder. Media Player Classic was downloaded from: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358 These programs are Open Source, Free Software and may be used and distributed freely under the terms of the General Public License (GPL). Please do not charge any distribution or download fees for these programs, except for the cost of the distribution medium. Although this software worked on the author’s computer with the provided files, the author claims NO CREDIT or RESPONSIBILITY for this software, so use of the software is AT YOUR OWN RISK! It is only provided so you may access the supplemental documents contained on this CD. Please refer to the included ‘gpl.txt’ file for more information.
