BDG Response to City Comments 052611
Kensington Estates Definitive Subdivision 2/10 Figure 1. Alternative Alignment Study Conversely, we feel more comfortable with the revised geometry shown on the plans accompanying this
letter. This will meet Mass DOT alignment guidelines* for both tangency and angle. However, we will therefore require an additional waiver request to allow an 82 degree vs. 90 degree
angle of intersection described in the City’s regulations. The fact that Route 66 is on a large radius at this point lessens any effect of centerlines meeting at less than true perpendicular.
*Mass DOT Intersection Alignment Guidelines for 30mph are 30’ min. centerline tangency (from curb line), 60 degree minimum intersection angle. 3. That the full traffic study be waived,
as we have been in discussion with OPD regarding traffic mitigation measures. A summary traffic study is enclosed. The DPW does not object to this waiver request. No response 4. That,
in sensitivity to costs, light pollution and the character of the area, the street lighting system be limited to one (existing) light at the Westhampton Road intersection and one new
light on a relocated pole at the Glendale Road intersection. The DPW does not object to this waiver request. No response
