This year we will honor four projects that preserve or contribute to the built environment of Northampton. The purpose of the Northampton Historical Commission is “the preservation, promotion, and development of the historic assets of the City,” as stated in the City ordinance which established the mayoral-appointed commission in 1973. The Commission seeks to stimulate public awareness and dialogue about the built environment, not only to preserve the best of history, but to guide new designs that complement that history. v For additional information about the Northampton Historical Commission and its work, please contact the Northampton Office of Planning and Development in City Hall 413-587-1265 wfeiden@northamptonma.gov www.northamptonplanning.org WELCOME Barbara Blumenthal Chair, Northampton Historical Commission R E M A R K S Mary Clare Higgins Mayor of Northampton R E M M A R K S Michael Bardsley Northampton Councilor-at-large v AWARDS PRESENTATION v 71 Chestnut Street Florence Joe & Patricia Chandler 100 Conz Street Northampton Karl & Sharon Heston Park Annex Elm Street & College Lane Northampton Smith College The First Churches of Northampton 129 Main Street Northampton Rev.
